Filbert Crafts - Traditional skills & materials
Pictured here is a barn conversion that features several aspects of the work undertaken by Filbert Crafts - a hand made
wooden staircase give access to a mezzanine floor with stained glass dividing panels, and under the stairs a pair of made
to measure doors with stained glass inset panels - made and installed by Filbert Crafts. It is the combination of
traditional skills and techniques, and the appreciation for traditional building techniques and materials, that allows
Filbert Crafts to take a holistic approach to your project.

Traditional Lead Work
Filbert Crafts have considerable expertise in traditional lead work including battened
roofs and repairs to leaded windows. Repairs and restorations can be also be undertaken
to dormer and bay windows, roof valleys and church roofs, providing a handsome, long-lasting,
weather-resistant finish as close to the original design as possible.

Lime Plastering and Lime Pointing
Old buildings, like people, need to breathe. Their single-skin construction
behaves differently from modern cavity walls, and the use of cement pointing and renders and
gypsum plasters can cause untold damage and damp problems. Filbert Crafts
use traditional breathable materials and lime mortars and plasters for the specialist conservation of vulnerable, historic
and listed buildings.

Masonry Work
Filbert Crafts have years of experience in masonry conservation work, carefully repairing
intricate stone detailing and other architectural features. Damaged or even missing sections of masonry can
be sensitively and successfully repaired, renewed and restored, giving a new lease of
life to stonework that you may have thought was beyond economic or realistic repair.
